Founded in 1930, Football or Soccer World Cup is an international association football competition organized by FIFA. The competition is competed every four years by men’s national teams of the members of FIFA. However, due to second World War, the competition is not contested in 1942 and 1946.

The first World Cup in 1930 was participated by 13 teams from South Africa, Europe and North America. It was the only one competition without qualification, as the contested teams are only invited to join the competition, and a deadline to accept is given. The competition was held in Uruguay, and in the final match between Uruguay and Argentina, Uruguay managed to win as the first champion of World Cup.

After the first World Cup, between 1938 and 1978, the tournament were participated by 16 teams, except in 1938, when Austria was absorbed in Germany after qualifying. With that, only 15 teams joining the competition that year. Then, in 1982, the contested teams were expanded to 24 teams and 32 teams starting from 1998 in order to allow more teams from Asia, Africa and North America to participate.

Until now, the most successfully team of World Cup is Brazil, which manage to win as many as 5 titles, follow by Italy with 4 titles and Germany with 3 titles. The current champions is Italy team, after winning the final competition in 2006 against France. Brazil and Italy stand a very good chance of becoming the champions in 2010, when we look back at the past performances, but the other teams like Germany, France, Argentina and England should not be underestimated.
